Interacting with English: Understanding Verbs: Lesson # 2


 


Verbs are very important words as far as meanings of a sentence are concerned. So students should have as many verbs at their command as possible. The best place of picking verbs for personal use is the literary texts students study as their course work at college.

Here I have prepared a demo lesson for students who are learning English at intermediate level. This kind of lessons when executed intelligently, they increase student interaction with language.

Let us start first defining verb.

Verbs are words denoting action, state, condition, etc.

How student should work with their literary text is shown below.

They should take fairly longer sentences and pick out verbs and record as under.

Example Sentence 1: Then I grasped the child’s head with my left hand and tried to get the wooden tongue depressor between her teeth.
